Dell Ultrasharp Usb-c Monitor

Ahead of the upcoming virtual Consumer Electronics Show (CES), Dell has announced a new lineup of computer monitors. The lineup includes a wide range of sizes, features and price points, including a new curved 40" ultrawide 5K monitor, which Dell is billing as the first of its kind.

Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Monitor

Looking first at the 40" 5K curved display, the Dell UltraSharp 40 Curved Monitor (U4021QW) is an IPS monitor with a 2500 radius curved screen. The resolution is 5,120 x 2,160, resulting in a pixel density of 140 PPI. The monitor covers 98% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 100% of the Adobe sRGB color space.

The monitor incorporates dual 9-watt speakers. Connections include DisplayPort 1.4, a pair of HDMI 2.0 ports, a Thunderbolt 3 port with 90W charging capabilities, USB Type B, USB-C downstream port for charging, four USB-A ports and a superspeed USB-A port. There is also an ethernet port and a 3.5mm audio port.

Dell will begin shipping the monitor on January 28 with a suggested retail price of $2,100 USD.

Dell UltraSharp 38 Curved USB-C Monitor

Alongside the 40" curved monitor is a new 38" curved display. The display has a 2350 radius curved screen with a WQHD+ 3,840 x 1,600 resolution. The monitor covers slightly less of the DCI-P3 color space, 95% versus 98% for its larger sibling.

In exchange for a smaller display and less resolution, you save about $600. The Dell UltraSharp 38 Curved USB-C Monitor will begin shipping later this month for $1,500.

Dell UltraSharp 24 and UltraSharp 27 USB-C Hub monitors

Dell has also unveiled a pair of more traditional midrange monitors, scheduled to arrive in March. The UltraSharp 24 and 27 monitors (U2422HE and U2722DE, respectively) incorporate Dell's InfinityEdge design, resulting in a very slim bezel around the display. This has previously been seen in Dell's XPS lineup.

The 24" model has a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution. Dell states that the monitor can display 85% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, but 100% of the Adobe sRGB color space. The monitor can charge up to 90 watts of power using a single USB-C cable and includes an ethernet port.

Dell UltraSharp USB-C Hub Monitor

With more real estate, the 27" UltraSharp model has a QHD resolution of 2,560 x 1,440 and includes the same connectivity and color gamut performance as the smaller monitor.

The UltraSharp 24 USB-C Hub Monitor will retail for $460, whereas the larger monitor will launch in March at $680.

Dell has also introduced a pair of nearly identical monitors, albeit without the USB-C Hub functionality. These more affordable monitors include traditional connectivity ports and will cost $360 and $580 respectively.

Dell Video Conferencing Monitors

Outside of the UltraSharp lineup, Dell announced a trio of monitors designed for videoconferencing. The 24, 27 and 34" Video Conferencing Monitors are the first videoconferencing monitors certified for Microsoft Teams. Accordingly, each monitor includes a one-touch Microsoft Teams button. The monitors have a pop-up 5MR camera, dual five-watt integrated speakers and built-in noise-cancelling mics. The webcam is Windows Hello certified, allowing it to be used for secure login.

The 24" and 27" monitors have traditional displays and will be priced at $520 and $720 respectively. The larger 34" monitor has a curved display and will cost $1,150.
